If you thought the Ms Pacman cocktail
arcade game was in the World Video Game Hall of Fame, you'd be incorrect. It's been on the shortlist for entrance -- it had been about the shortlist both this year and last year. It hasn't made the cut yet, though.
Actually, no 1980s arcade games combined the Hall of Fame this past year. Nevertheless, the judges did choose a timeless 1990s arcade game. This was also to console gamesconsole, a mid-70s
text-based adventure game, and a game which was packed free in the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Classic 1980s (and Pre-1980s) Arcade Games around the Shortlist but What Makes the Cut
These are some of the great 1980s arcade games that got cut in the Last hurdle this year:
• Ms Pac-Man -- a finalist for 2 years now so, hopefully, it will get the recognition it deserves in future decades
• Centipede -- the 1981 award-winning classic from Atari that offered gameplay similar to Space Invaders but with bugs instead of spaceships
• Asteroids -- the most brilliant multidirectional shooter published by Atari in 1979 that was one of the very first arcade games to Attain widespread popularity
What about the video games that did get inducted in the World Video Game Hall of Fame this past year?
• Mortal Kombat -- this is the only arcade game to get in the World Video Game Hall of Fame at 2019. Over the years, various versions and titles of this game have been published on a range of different platforms. The initial four incarnations, but beginning in 1992, were arcade just.
• Microsoft Solitaire -- packed in the Windows operating system, it's been automatically installed on billions of computers around the world. Since 1990, it has helped workplace employees
pretend to be active and is currently played 35 billion times annually.
• Super Mario Kart -- the most fun and still popular racing game that was first published in 1992. It features characters from the Mario Bros video game franchise and continues to be released on multiple consoles and platforms.
• Colossal Cave Adventure -- an obscure (compared to another huge gaming titles mentioned in this article) text-based adventure game released in 1976. To perform it, you compose commands and there aren't any graphics. The aim is to locate treasures and solve puzzles.
Hopefully, Ms Pac-Man gets her opportunity next year. You do not need to wait until then to perform it though, particularly if you have your own arcade machine. Have a look at our range now.
